Fighting the Laptop

July 28, 2006

I fought my laptop all day. It seems this morning, after restarting my laptop, it felt like giving me the ol’ blue screen of death. Way to go Windows! I fought with it all day trying to boot linux so I could back up some of my work(Webisense especially). I finally booted Knoppix and backed up my stuff. Then I got a re-image. Remember to back your stuff up daily! I didnt get to write about the 311/Wailers/Pepper concert last night so here is what I think:

Wakeboarding

July 25, 2006

Wow, I haven’t updated for a week. Here are two pics from wakeboarding last weekend. Pic 1, Pic 2.

Yeah, I’ve been kinda busy lately. I updated webisense to work with Internet Explorer. I also went paintballing last night with some kids from school. Cohort 7 beat down on cohort 11 all day. They beat us once. Better luck next time guys. We also plan to play our professors and school staff in the fall.

Golf!

July 18, 2006

I’m still sore from wakeboarding two days ago. We had our golf class for the first time today. It was actually quite enjoyable. Drew and I dressed in our finest of golf attire.

I have been putting a lot of time into Webisense. It seems I’ve been putting off getting my other certifications. There aren’t enough hours in the day.

Family Values

July 16, 2006

Today I went wakeboarding for the first time. It was a thrill when I could actually get up. I am so sore right now. Pictures will be up soon.

I learned something today. Living here in Utah, I have come to learn that mormon families are very close-knit. They all stick together and have family outings often. I always thought the close-knit families here were the Mormon families. This isn’t necessarily true. I was wakeboarding with PJ’s family(not Mormon) today and they acted like families should. It’s not just the Mormon families that stick together, it’s every family here. It’s not a religious thing, but a Utah thing. To me this fries my brain. All i’ve seen over the years back home in Jersey proved that all families were dysfunctional. That isn’t the case here in Utah. I’d say Utah is one of the most family oriented states, if not, the most.

All of this comes at a bargain. Although families in Utah stick together, they dont communicate between each other. And if you aren’t Mormon, you’re family will be segregated from all other Mormon families. Back home in Jersey, families are dysfunctional, but we know how to socialize. And the unhealthy things that happen between families back home in Jersey aren’t all that bad anyway. If you had to decide between having your children safer but more secluded, or less secluded but more ready for the world, what would you choose?

Hot BBQ

July 15, 2006

So we had a barbecue with students from the school today. Majority of which were cohort 11. I dont know what to think of these guys. There are 58 students or so in cohort 11. My estimates are by the end of the second quarter, there will be 35 to 40 students left.

I love getting valuable suggestions for my software. It helps a lot. This weekend (err tomorrow night) I will try to finish putting the history of Internet Explorer into Webisense. I’m also going to try to retain clipboard text. Maybe make that optional? Who knows…

The Goat

July 13, 2006

I haven’t updated in quite a while. Ive been busy with started school again and everything else. Today, I released Webisense(beta), which I am quite proud of. Last update I promised pics of my little sister playing pong with my grandfather:

That was the proudest moment of my sister. The other night I got Drew with the goat. Here is a pic of his 3rd kick out of 4.

4th of July

July 5, 2006

My fourth of july was absolutely incredible. We had an awesome barbecue and it was good to see family. Derrick, like an idiot, walked under a tree during a lightning storm. The tree didn’t get struck, but one of the branches blew up and down in the wind and hit Derrick in the head. He had to go to the hospital and get 4 staples in his head. Derrick’s new nickname - Staples. (more…)

The Rancor

July 3, 2006

Ahhh. I was with a young buxom last night. We were having an exciting conversation about oral hygiene when her jealous older sister insisted she come home immediately. It just so happened her older sister was the rancor from star wars seen below.

Screenshots

July 2, 2006

Egads! I haven’t worked on Webisense in quite a few days (since i went on break). It feels like im wasting time over break, doing nothing. Then again, that’s what vacations are for right? I really do need the relaxation from the past school year. Its a shame we only get 3 or 4 weeks off for summer. Oh well, the partying in Jersey makes it all worth while. The kind of partying you WON’T find in Utah. Time to go be unproductive!

Webisense Screenshots? NO WAI?!?!?
