We Are The People

August 30, 2006

I went to an anti-bush anti-war protest today. I am usually not political, but I totally disagree with what Bush is doing. He needs to bring the boys home. He also needs to be kicked out of office, but that’s another story. The protesters marched down state street onto the steps of the Wallace F. Bennett Federal Building chanting thinks like “we are the people” and “bring the boys home.” The march was led by Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson. Here are some pics from today.

Lolf

August 29, 2006

We had lolf (golf) this morning. My swing is getting really nice. In other news Warren Jeffs was captured. He is on the FBI’s top ten most wanted list and is from right here in Utah. Also, evidence proves that John Karr did not kill Jon Benet Ramsey. Why would someone want to take credit for a killing they didn’t do?

For some reason my desktop just felt like stopping its ability to play music yesterday. This happened for no apparent reason. Thanks Microsoft. I tried to go back to a recovery point and that didn’t work. And I don’t have a virus. The odd part is the computer will play Windows sounds just fine. When i double click on something or turn the machine on, i have audio just fine. Its when i try to play audio on anything besides windows sounds that it says im missing an audio stream. I really dont feel like fighting with Windows anymore. Ive been battling Windows for years and im sick of it. Im contemplating dual-booting Windows XP and Mac or Linux. Maybe I’ll triple boot all 3. I wonder if Mac OSX will run on my machine. Hmm.

Pluto No Longer a Planet? Writely? Web 2.0!

August 24, 2006

A story over at zdnet is saying that a current meeting of astronomers around the world decided that Pluto is not to be a considered a planet anymore. It is now to be considered a dwarf planet. I mean, at first we were taught that Pluto was the last planet. Then it became the second to last which really screwed with my head. Now the astonomers of the world are saying that Pluto is no longer to be considered a planet. STOP MESSING WITH MY HEAD SCIENTISTS! I hope schools keep teaching from 20 year old books so kids keep believing that Pluto is the last planet. Some day my great grandchild is going to correct me when I mention Pluto, or even worse, they wont have any idea what Pluto is. Oh well.

I tested Google’s beta online word processor writely, last night. It seems like a solid application. For those of you that dont know, Web 2.0 is coming out. This includes new better looking websites with cleaner graphics and smoother operation. You will see applications no longer have to be installed. Instead you navigate your web browser to a webpage. There are current applications to replace many of the programs in Microsoft Office. I also saw a Microsoft Visio replacement that looks pretty promising.

Anyway, Web 2.0! I can’t wait for it to come out. I gotta call comcast to see what I need to do to upgrade to Web 2.0.

Hello Blog

August 22, 2006

Wow have I been reeaaallyyy busy lately.  There’s so much work to be done.  Tomorrow is gonna suck.  We have a presentation to give, an assignment due, and the beta release of a project due.  I have to compile a set of slides for a slideshow about linux tonight.

Today, I also checked over my credits to make sure everything is going smoothly.  I recalculated scheduled credits and came out with a different number than my advisor.  Better go check on that tomorrow.  But anyway yeah im taking either 26 or 28 credits next quarter.  Whats one or two extra classes hurt? Besides my sanity?

I kinda feel bad I haven’t worked on Webisense in awhile or studied for any certs.  But it’s really hard with all of the work we do.  It’s really draining day in and day out.  If I do take the 28 credits next quarter, I’ll end up picking up another certification or two.  And end up losing what’s left of my sanity.  Anyway, I’m out cub scouts.

Lazy

August 17, 2006

For some reason I am incredibly tired. I don’t feel like doing anything besides sitting here on my laptop while watching tv and being lazy. I’ve gotten bored with the internet. I think I reached the end of the net and it turned me around like in Starfox 64.

I had 2 hotdogs for dinner but I’m still hungry. I would go to bed but I had a 2 hour nap already today. Hooray for not having homework. I got all of mine done ahead of time. I should really work on Webisense or study for a certification or something right now, but im not going to.

Where is the remote control to the tv? We haven’t seen it in weeks now. If you have seen a runaway remote, please notify me immediately. Ok no more babbling from me tonight.

Monday Monday

August 14, 2006

Gotta love Mondays! Juuust kidding. This weekend I went wakeboarding with PJ on saturday. I was able to get up with no problem and handle my own on the wakeboard.

Besides that, I didn’t do much this weekend. I did some laundry. Here’s a fun fact: Never wash a down pillow in the washer when it says dry clean only. You’ll end up with a pillow that smells like wet duck.

Also, I ordered 10 200 gig drives this weekend from ecost.com for 25 bucks.  Normally these drives cost 130 bucks each.   The drives were 52 cents each.  There had to be an error with the site.  Nonetheless I ordered 2 Terabytes of hard-drive space.  Im hoping for the best.

The Fall of a Giant

August 9, 2006

AOL has been in the news quite a bit lately. And none of this publicity has been good. It seems every move AOL has made lately has made matters go from bad to worse.

Hooray for Blogging Software

August 7, 2006

So I finally set up some blogging software on my site. It took me all day to do.

I haven’t been able to work on Webisense in the past few days, but the release I will be putting up soon will most likely be my official 1.0 release. (more…)
